The havoc of cold continues in Varanasi. Wednesday morning was covered with a white blanket of fog. Due to cold wave and severe cold, life of common people is completely miserable. Amidst the harshness of cold, orders for holiday have been issued in schools in Varanasi today. On the orders of Varanasi DM S Rajalingam, all schools up to class eight have been closed today. There is no possibility of getting relief from the cold right now.

No plane has been able to land yet

Due to fog, flight operations have not yet started at Varanasi’s Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport. The situation was that due to fog and mist, the visibility of the airport runway was 150 meters till 10:30 am. Flight operations could not start at the airport. At least 800 to 900 meters of visibility is required for aircraft operation.

Nai Vande Bharat will be canceled today

Due to fog and operational reasons, 22415/22416 Vande Bharat Express will remain canceled on Wednesday. Cantt Station Director Gaurav Dixit said that the train will be canceled due to operational reasons.

On Tuesday, there was dense fog from city to village till 12 noon. Visibility was so low that people kept coming and going on the roads at 10 in the morning with their vehicle lights on. There was sunshine at 12.30 in the afternoon but due to high humidity in the air, the sunshine remained ineffective. There was no relief from the melting even in the evening. Late night the fog started appearing again. On Tuesday, the maximum temperature reached 16.6 degrees Celsius, 7 degrees Celsius below the average, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 5.5 degrees Celsius, which was three degrees below the average.
